A little about june armstrong, childrens pen and watercolour illustrator living in scotland.

Hello and welcome to my new website. In my portfolio you will see some of the work I have created since I settled down and listened to my instincts to become an illustrator. I have no formal art training, but have always been creative. My style is fairly tight and detailed, using pen and watercolour. I like drawing very colourful, quirky animals, insects, birds, flowers and smiley people. My work has been reproduced on greetings cards, giftwrap, mugs, notebooks and posters. I was born and bred in Edinburgh, then after a brush with academia I became a ski instructor and spent my formative years travelling the world teaching skiing. I now live in the Highlands of Scotland (Aviemore) with my two little boys and my husband, where we enjoy outdoor activities and the stunning scenery. I still ski when I can, I love being in the mountains and the silent places. I enjoy a bit of gardening and like to visit gardens that are a great source of inspiration. I attend regular drawing groups and life drawing classes. Mostly, I am a Mummy who illustrates when time allows, my boys providing a constant font of ideas that have led to some of my most successful designs. I am happy to accept commissions, you can contact me either at the email address below or through my Blog, where more of my work is posted. I look forward to hearing from you.
